Thank you, Heidi. It is a beautiful list indeed! And as you said, there is so much more about the miracle of being human. I had one project called opposites@work which was about exploring oneself based on one's "opposites". I think this is the invitation here as well- we are invited to learn about our humanness as we face AI.
Indeed! We need to refuse all attempts to reduce a human being to a machine intelligence! And rather than blaming others, I think we need to realize that in the most common cases, we do it to ourselves. We do not understand the magic and magnifence of human intelligence (The Human Advantage.) Thank you for reading and for all you do!
There is a clear lack of order and merging for me through the AI process. We cant avoid it - its here - BUT I feel in many ways without truly knowing who steers the ship (as in we are far from knowing all of who we are and our capacities and nuances as humans - yet to explore all of our intelligences) why are we setting sail into a direction so new ... i feel that over centuries they are yet to truly master the human body mind and soul and have almost given up and gone off track - perhaps in hope of a mirrored machine revealing us - well it will but be careful what part it mirrors as we haven't clearly learnt to tame or collaborate with ego (hence the news headlines today) or to master the art of the intelligences in the second half of your list EQ/SI etc etc etc WHICH are the ones required to make the AI morally sound IMO
Indeed, the impact of AI mirrors directly our current level of consciousness and it amplifies the societal problems we already have. Thank you reading and for all you do.
I wouldn't be afraid of Artificial Intelligence; it represents the progress of the human mind, was created by it, and depends on human use. Humanity has created numerous technical revolutions throughout history, so this is not the last one.
I agree that AI is just another technological revolution. I remember the fears when Internet came. And yet, its potential for impact on the future of humanity is way more far reaching than anything we have seen so far. The level of consciousness out of which we operate as we create it and use it defines it's impact. It could be amazing for humanity or devistating... It is all up to us. Thank you for reading and commenting.
"If it was up to me, I will make their development obligatory from primary school and throughout all education and life-long learning programs. "
Absolutely agree. It's something I am exploring at the moment but with a focus on parents (they are primary trransmitters of cultural norms/expectations which children will ingest like sponges). I was both shocked, disappointed and unsurprised in recent research into the purpose of (childhood) education in legal terms in the UK. The key legal precedent uses this phrase:
"An efficient education... achieves what it sets out to achieve. A suitable education... prepares the child for life in a modern civilised society and enables the child to achieve their full potential."
I hope this not too much of a tangent and is useful.
I can share the full AI assisted exploration if that is useful.
Hi, Alex! I believe educational institutions indeed achieve what they were intended to achieve. And unfortunately, by design, that has nothing to do with what the actual needs of pupils and society. That has been clear for a while now but with the acceleration of the integration of AI in our lives, most education is getting ridiculously inadequate. And maybe that's the good news, maybe this is what it's going to take for parents to request change. I also agree that parents are a good acupuncture point- a lot depends on them no matter the system. Thank you for your thoughtful comment!
I so enjoy your commitment to articulating what being human means.
AI, yes, there is a lot to unpack there and it’s complicated!
But the pure joy of reading through your list of our distinct and varied intelligences- and the fact that there are even more than what you listed!
I found myself sitting with and reveling in each as I made my way through.
Thank you for a beautiful moment of appreciating humans and all the avenues for exploration open to us.
Much love!

A very pertinent conversation we desperately need.
The trend is a bit too busy anthropomorphising AI, and that we’ve forgotten to honor our own humanity’s irreducible qualities.
Prioritizing AI literacy over cultivating wisdom, empathy, and systemic awareness is evolutionary self-sabotage.
Thank you for writing this piece and refusing reductionism....🙏🙏

Thank you for your answer to my comment. Maybe you're right with your caution!

You make a fantastic point in this compare and contrast. It's all in the name.
"Artificial," meaning fake, false, or perhaps the most appropriate:
Superficial! i.e. can only scratch the surface, never penetrating beyond.
Grateful for The Human Advantage.
Thank you, Erin! I agree- superficial is the word. However, we have been so superficial ourselves in some aspects that it looks deep to us.
Wow. Yes. I forget that.
"The Urgent Need to Reconnect with the Mystery and Majesty of Being Human." Yes, it is an urgent need. Excellent exploration Natalia.
Indeed! Thank you, David!
