Today I changed the beginning of my profile to say - “All of my posts are 100% human generated - words, pictures, ideas.” Just so that people know I am writing my own work and inputing my own creativity.
Thanks Natalia - this was educational. I had a sense of this but some of the content was a surprise and it's certainly a wakeup call. It hadn't occurred to me how certain writers, for example, would be promoted simply for commercial reasons - how naive!
The purpose of the system drives the actions - it is difficult to shake off even for those who are well-intended.
It makes me want to establish a platform which supports these intentions. No Likes for example! It wouldn't be difficult for one that suppports human needs and behaviours around cooperation as well as competition. An idle dream for the moment. Perhaps it has already been realised!
I have been looking into publishing my book and having moved away from self-publishing and discovering the hard nosed commercial intent of publishing which doesn't nurture new (do you have 10,000 followers yet?). This is an environment which is ripe for exploiting authors or drawing them into a publicity machine.
I am navigating this at the moment and would like to share a couple of resources - the Thrutopia Masterclass - https://thrutopia.life/
And through them I found the idea of partnership publishing and this org in particular - https://unbound.com/
Navigating the creative tension arising from having impact and maintaining individual integrity is covered for example in Thrutopia.
Thank you, Alex! Yes, it is becoming way much worse than we may have realized. "Turning into a publicity machine..." - that describes the process so well. That's what happens to so many people in so many industries. We start wtih a good intent but then comes a moment when we need to make a choice, and it's not an easy one. Thank you very much for sharing resources as well. I am sure many people will find them useful.
Yes on every level and at every turn.... I see AI - i see it can be some good for the world - but I dont feel it in my bones or breath when I read or see something .. I dont want it in my pictures of language or in my content... mine is pure, and untainted by some processed algorithm seeking likes - I just don't care for it.. I want true deep real community and connection.. I want conversation and learning... I just scroll on by ... and trust those who may find me are those seeking same
Thank you, Cari! As I wrote in another article, it's about writing as if noone is reading and writing without expecting anyone will like it, and then trusting that others who do the same will find us.
Natalia as someone who has been battling in the independent music world since 1999 I know what this is. I have come to accept but not to agree that the human will seek the shortcut. That is what A.I is. Everyone is seeking virality which has nothing to do with talent or best. Talent was the tool in the analogue system. My theory is that this new economy is based on the music industry. Everyone chasing fame..... trying to get on! Trying to figure out how to get through is the essence of pushing a record. All of what is taking place is no different. So for me everyone is in the music business. I Remember when if you told someone you were chasing a record deal folks didn't take you serious or they said what is your back up plan. So for me now with this A.I thing expanding which is bringing an endless amount of what is called content it will flood with average and below average material. The many are average and below. I know what I said may piss people off but the pareto principle in math tells that story. All of what we are going towards is a delusional reality not a reality of clarity and discernment. For me it is an open and shut case. This A.I stuff will not be good for the human mindset. which if you look at the news mental health is problematic. So this means it will increase. It is a given.
I see how the pattern might be the same as in the music industry and I agree with you. I am just still hoping we can do something about it. At least on an individual level.
This article absolutely hits it out of the park. So much here that is CRITICAL.
I love the term "unprocessed truth."
I absolutely agree with the importance of creating organic, non-AI content. I generally do not read or follow writers who use it. As I've written about, I can feel it in my body if it's A.I. (writing or imagery), and the body gives me a clear NO.
Thank you, too, for pointing out how the most interesting articles often have just a few Likes or a small amount of followers.
All of this isn't surprising: for the past few decades, art (music and writing and film especially) that is über popular tends to reflect the lowest common denominator, the lowest hanging fruit, and has rarely inspires something unique and groundbreaking. Take, for example, many books that are New York Times Bestsellers. Often deeply disappointing and even insulting to the natural intelligence.
You are sounding a red-alert alarm. I'm grateful to be part of the tribe who are listening.
I am also grateful to be surrounded by people like you who are listening. I agree with you that this is nothing new. It's been several decades now and we are starting to see the consequences. I am hoping to hear from people who think nothing bad is happening. Usually, the arguments are efficiency and productivity but this is more than that. We are crossing lines that should not be crossed.

That's a great idea, Nessa! Thank you for letting us know! We need to make it easier to find each other :)

Yes the individual level is our only outlet.
It is only about the individual going forward because the collective is a danger zone

Good point to sharpen our awareness to stay human in humanness!
Great Natalia

How about awareness and humanness from your side?
I am sorry. I don't understand... What provoked this question?
