Yes, the intention we encode in language is the essence of what we communicate. That's why there are dead words and sentences (devoid of that essence) and alive words and sentences (full of it). The mastery to being truly alive is to learn to detect the difference. Thank you for reading and commenting!
Thank u so much Natalia. Your piece helps me a little further on the road….Lately I am really trying to understand what is happening and what is at stake with Ai. 🤖 my body says «Run!» My mind says «wait a minute»…. of course the machine will never be a human. But we have entered an era of extreme disembodiment and our souls are scattered and fragmented… so I am wondering what will happen to vibration? (I know i am super negative right now… but….)
Sage, I feel you and I share your concerns. But here is how I look at it. (1) Fear is never a good adviser no matter what the subject is. (2) Thinking that the world as we know it will end is something every generation feels as their own world crumbles (3) And yet, we do not have the power to destroy the sacred essence of our world. So, given all that, all we are left with is the power to experience its sacredness in our lives or not... And some will do that while others won't. And that's OK as well. Thank you for reading and commenting! I appreciate it!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽For sure. Fear adds further complexity to the subject. But I am not sure (still) how to handle the matter in a reasonable - or lets say a heartfelt way. It seems to me (though I am there too 🫣) that rejecting AI might reinforce a major aspect of the era of the anthropocene. For further exploration I can recommend one of the talks (you can find it on YouTube) between Vanessa Andreotti and Dougald Hine. It is called «At the Edge» it is a series of reflective conversations part of the project Burnout From Humans (burnoutfromhumans.net). exploring the entangled nature of intelligence and the ways in which AI can act as a disruptive mirror, a catalyst and a scaffold for reimagining our relationships with the world, each other, and ourselves. Very very interesting and powerful… and still…. 🧶🪶
Thanks for the resource, Sage! And yes, I am with you saying... still... there is so much that raises concerns and questions. For me, the bottom line is that we have not come to terms with our own consciousness (as I call it also, our Human Advantage), and that makes us inadequate and unprepared to utilize the possibilities that AI brings but also minimize the dangers.
And as you know me by now (a little) I am always "trying" (and it is exhausting) to see and follow as many threads/perspectives as possible. To interrogate our systems, our ways of thinking and behaving. There is another discussion that made me think this further the other day. This one is from Mollie Adler who hosts a podcast named "Back from the borderline". She is going through the rabbit hole of AI with a very interesting perspective too. Check it out. Not to change your mind or invalidate your points, but just to air out what others are bringing to this complex discussion.
And again: I am not sure of anything right now.
And to tell you the truth, I start to decipher ChatGPT writing and structure here on substack. It is fascinating that some people just resolve to it... it changes the architecture of their thoughts (and style)....
There is something very wise in the "I don't know" and "I am not sure." I believe that's our most impornat task right now... Keep listening to different perspectives with the mindset of "I don't know." Love that! Thank you for this beautiful exchange!
Absolutely! And we have been suffocated by empty words! Embodying what we say looks like more work but in fact is the more natural thing to do. The problem is we have glorified quantity over quality, and we can not be authentic if we do not reduce the quantity. Thank you for reading and commenting, Erin!
I love your writing and always find myself happier to be human after reading your posts!
Thank you for your wide-ranging research in to this important and timely topic.
Thank you so much, Heidi! What a beautiful thing to say… Making you happier to be a human… Love that!
Excellent....
You articulate well that intention is the soul of language and especially vital in the times we live in.
Thank you 🙏

thank you for your perspective on this
Beautifully true. Thank you.
Thank you, Sarrah! Great to hear from you! Thanks for reading and commenting!
Fully agree! "When we copy-paste without presence, our words become as empty as the ones generated by AI."
It is more difficult to *embody* what we speak and what we write. And this embodiment is what makes us conscious, sacred, actualized humans.

Yes Yes and Yes.
I am with you 100%.

Yes, the more natural AND healthy thing to do! 🎉
